Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Most of us take our Bible reading and study too lightly. We skim over the Bible, do little comparisons and research. We pray little as we read. We wonder why we do not get much out of the Bible. Will you check out these verses about how to seek wisdom and then compare that to what you do in the Word of God.
I marked some key words in the verses for you to consider but I think that maybe the strongest words are: Seek her as silver and search for her as for hid treasure.
Many things in the Bible are not going to be understood in a simple read through. You will need to look up words in the dictionary. You will need to look up parallel passages. You will need to pray. The Bible was meant to be discussed with others so find someone who knows a little more than you and discuss the passage.
Dig in the Word. Do not just call words and hurry through your time in God’s Word and you will find the Word to be much more fulfilling and what you are looking for!
