Ezra 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
Ezra stops everything to seek God and find out how God wants them to live and direction for their lives. He wants God’s direction for him and the adults, for the children and for all the things that God has given them.
The question that comes to mind for me is, how often do we stop and consider what God wants us to do with our lives? How often do we say, God here are my children, my spouse, and all the things we have, we want to know what you want us to do with all of this?
Could today be a good time to stop and ask that question? Could it be that you have been negligent in seeking His will?
Prayer is not enough. As you pray, get in the book and see what it says. Do not do what you have seen others do. Do not follow your religious tradition. Do not do what your family has always done. Find out what the Word of God says and then put that into practice.
Ask God for direction for your life, that of your spouse, and your things.
