Luke 5:11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
This is an amazing story to all of us. Our possessions are way too important for this to happen. We do not mind following Him if we can do so on our own terms. We do not mind doing so if we get to keep our stuff.
These men saw who He was. That saw His power. They got to land as soon as possible. They didn’t do a fire sale they just walked away.
How can you do that? You need to lay all you have on the altar. You need to say I will do anything you want me to do and I will go anywhere you want me to go.
Very likely He will not ask you to go into the ministry but He will have you make the ministry out of what He has already put in your hands. If what you have isn’t yours then you will not mind doing that.
What if you spent your money based on His leadership? What if you used your time and talents to fulfill His leadership in your life? What if your goal was to glorify God in all that you do?
Leaving all and following Him may not mean going into the ministry but it may mean letting the ministry come into your daily life. The question is will you allow God to do that in you.
The truth is that we are used to living a dichotomous life. We are Christians on Sunday and regular people during the week. That is because we have not left all and followed Him.
Today is the day. Walk away. Give it all to Him. Yield yourself to follow Him, His principles, and His leading the best way you can!
