God is able but that doesn’t mean He will

Daniel 3:17-18 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

We love the story of the 3 Hebrew children and how God delivered them from the fiery furnace. But we miss the big detail in the story. Their faith and commitment are both shown.

Our God is able. He can deliver us and we believe that He will but if He doesn’t you can count on one thing. We will be faithful.

Too often we try to act like God always gets us out of problems. We can, if we are not careful, make people think that by serving God all will work out, but that isn’t necessarily true. God often lets His people go through major trials and fires.

The first question we must ask ourselves is, are we faithful enough that no matter what we will serve God. It doesn’t matter, if we die or what. We have decided to follow Jesus and nothing will change.

We will love God if He delivers us. We will love God if He doesn’t deliver us. We just love God.

Is that true about you?
