Ezekiel 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
Several points of interest in the verse. He will make known His holy name among His people, Israel. That is exciting. He wants everyone to know His name and His person. It is also sad that His own people do not seem to be interested in making Him famous. He is not even famous to them.
That makes me wonder about what He would say about us. Is He famous in our church, our family, our personal life. If not what do we need to do to change our perspective.
Then He says that He will not allow His people to pollute His holy name. What a shame that His own people would dirty His name. He is tired of it. He doesn’t want it happening any more. I wonder how many times I pollute His name. Maybe by saying an off color word or joke, allowing thoughts to linger in my mind that aren’t pleasing to Him. I do not want to be guilty of polluting His name.
Then God wanted the heathen to know who He is. How important is it to me and to my church to make Jesus famous even among the pagans of this world. I must be concerned enough to tell people about Jesus. What could I do practically this week to get involved in telling people about Him.
