Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
People are responsible for their own sin but the watchman is responsible for giving the warning. If we know that judgment is coming then we are to warn them. If we do not warn them then their blood will be required at our hands. That means that we were responsible to tell them the truth.
He has made us his ambassadors and given us the ministry of reconciliation. We are to take the good news to them. 2Corinthians 5:18-20.
You might say that we are not responsible in this way because we live in New Testament times. This passage you think speaks only to the literal watchmen on the wall. You might normally be right if we did not find Paul saying in Acts 20:25-27 :
Acts 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Could it be that we should take our responsibility as witnesses more seriously? Could it be that being an ambassador is more important than we think?
