Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.Blessed or happy is the man that trusts in the Lord God of Heaven and has put his hope in the Lord. This is the opposite of what most men do. They put their trust and their hope in other things such as people, money, education, etc. In Jeremiah 17:5 God curses the man who trusts in other men instead of God. Trusting and hoping in God has many benefits. We will be able to withstand troubles, heat when it comes. Afflictions come and we are prepared and ready to withstand them. Heat will not be able to keep us from fruit bearing. Droughts can come and we will not cease from bearing fruit. Things that should stop us will not. Everyone would totally understand if we couldn’t continue, couldn’t be fruitful but the Lord will cause us to be fruitful. We are blessed. How can we trust and hope in the Lord? This verse is very similar to what we find in Psalm 1:2-3. In this passage the secret is meditating in the Word of God. Causing or allowing the Word of God to be your delight. Loving the things of God will lead you to trust Him. Knowing the truths of His book will build your trust. It also brings to mind Joshua 1:7-8 where not only are we meditating in the Word of God but we are putting it into practice in our lives. I challenge you to seek God, to delight in His Word, to put it into practice, and I can promise you that God will bless you in ways people will not be able to understand.
