Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
We are not to glory in our wisdom or our strength. Rich people are not to glory in their riches. We glory in all the wrong things. We are to glory in knowing and understanding God.
I would dare say that very few ever consider knowing God to be something to brag about. I doubt that many seek to know God that well. It is far easier to go to school and get a degree. Degrees are easy to count. It is far easier to get money and count it.
The hard thing is to know God. Knowing God is done on a whole different level. The one can be done by anyone. Hard work, discipline and you can make money or get an education. Knowing God requires humility. It requires brokenness because knowing God comes at the expense of lifting up yourself.
Notice what we will know about God if we know Him. He is a God that exercises lovingkindness. He is kind and good, He has grace and mercy. He always loves.
But not only is He a God of love He also is a God of judgment. He knows what is right and wrong. He pronounces what is right and wrong. He is the decider not us. He is a God of righteousness. He is holy and right.
I challenge you to move away from measuring yourself by the amount of money that you have or the amount of education that you have. Do you know God? Do you exercise yourself to know God? Do you spend time seeking Him?
That is where we should place our time. We should seek the God of Heaven and know Him.
