Good tidings

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Notice what the messenger brings, good tidings mentioned twice in 32 words. God has sent a message and it is a message of good tidings.

The message he publishes is peace and good or well-pleasing, fruitful, morally correct. His message is a message of salvation.

This is such an exciting and wonderful thing that his very feet are considered beautiful. His feet are what bring him so that he can give the message.

The message was to Zion and it was that their God reigned.

Several considerations, have we become so legalistic that our message is a message of rules. We have to do so many things to get God pleased with us. Have we miscommunicated so much that people consider our message to be anything but good news.

Have we been raised to consider that preaching is someone yelling at us and scolding us all the time?

Have you turned your witness into moral superiority? If people want to be good like you they need to quit what they are doing and turn to your God or religion?

Are you embarrassed to share the gospel because in your mind it really isn’t good news any more? Has the message some how been twisted in your mind away from good tidings, peace, salvation, etc?
