Ecclesiastes 11:4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
The farmer has to do his sowing and reaping at the right time. Though he will use wisdom as to when to sow and reap he must be careful not to make excuses. If you spend your time looking for reasons not to sow your seed you will find it. If you spend your time watching the clouds you will not harvest your crop.
It is human nature to look for excuses and to waste time. In Proverbs 20:4 the psalmist says that the lazy farmer is too worried about the cold but his worry will cause him to beg in the harvest time. In Proverbs 22:13 the slothful, lazy guy says there is a lion in the streets.
Talk about making up excuses, the lion in the street has to be a winner. Now God has something for you to do. You can continue to make excuses or you can step forward and do God’s will for your life.
It can be the economy, your family, your health, a better time, or you can just do what you know you are supposed to do.
There will always be plenty of excuses to waste time and not do what God has called us to do. Let’s just decide to do today what we know we ought to do.
