Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
We are taught to fear God not man. So much of what God wants us to accomplish is being hindered by our fear of man. We are afraid of what man will do to us. Consider some other Bible verses with me.
Fearing man instead of God caused Abram to be willing to risk Sarai’s life to protect his own Genesis 12:11-13, Genesis 20:11
Isaac learns fear from his dad I guess and pulls the same embarrassing stunt, Genesis 26:7
Aaron makes a golden calf because he is afraid of the people Exodus 32:22-24
Jesus told his disciples to not fear men who can only kill the body Matthew 10:28
Fear caused Peter to deny Jesus Matthew 26:69-74
Religious leaders believed in Jesus but were afraid of losing their position so didn’t speak up for Jesus. John 12:42
The psalmist said that he knew who was on his side and so he would not fear man Psalm 118:6. The writer of Hebrews echoes these same sentiments Hebrews 13:6
Satan knows exactly what to do. He causes us to fear. When we fear we are paralyzed. We do not do what we could do and God is not glorified like He could be because of our fear. Fear has torment no doubt. 1John 4:18
We must remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear 2Timothy 1:7
Fear is a trap. Satan sets it well. Men and women with the best intentions fall into a trap that their very lives shout against. They go where no one else will go. They want God to make a difference through them but in the end their ministry is greatly hindered because of fear!
