Proverbs 17:27-28 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Talking a lot can show our lack of knowledge. When we can’t seem to be quiet according to the wise man of Proverbs it can show that we aren’t very smart and we don’t have a great deal of understanding. Being able to control our mouths and our emotions shows that we have understanding or that we are smart.
People a great deal less intelligent than you can appear smarter by being quiet. People will think we are more learned by our silence than by our speech.
My dad used to say, it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Good things for me to think about as all the family gets together.
