Psalm 106:8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
God has His reasons for what He does in our lives. We often think that it is about us and what we want but here when He saved or rescued Israel He had other reasons.
First, He saved them for His Name’s sake. He didn’t save them because they were special or because He wanted to make them happy. He didn’t save them because they were good or could do good for Him. He saved them for His Name’s sake. He had placed His name on them. They were known as His people. If He didn’t save them then it would reflect badly on His name.
Secondly, He saved them to make His mighty power known. It wasn’t so that they could be a great people or could be highly respected. It wasn’t so they could raise their children in a good and comfortable place. It wasn’t because they had earned the right to have Him act. He saved them to make His mighty power known.
There is a lot of truth in this short little verse. These truths should literally change our lives.
We should be grateful that we are recipients of His blessings because we do not deserve them. We have not earned them and He is not obligated to do any of them for us!
We should realize that it is all about His Name and His glory. He is doing things in our lives so that He will be great and greatly praised. He is doing great things so that everyone will know how great He is and His name will be honored and glorified.
That will change how we think and how we do things. It is for Him and not for us.
We should realize that He wants His power to be known. Our job is to spread His fame. We are to make known His power. That again changes everything for us. We are here not to get for us to be serve Him and His purposes.
It is all for His Name’s sake. Let that affect the way we think and act today!
