Psalm 78:29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
We are warned that we have not because we ask not. James 4:2 and that sometimes we ask for the wrong things and God doesn’t give it to us James 4:3.
Here is a story of where they kept asking and asking until God gave them what they wanted even though it wasn’t what He wanted. It will always turn out to be a bad thing if God gives you what you want. He knows best. He is at work in your life. Step number one is to allow Him to direct your life.
In Psalm 78:20 the people question God. Can He not give us meat to eat? God had done great things. They just were not satisfied with God’s will.
God got angry. He decided to give the complainers what they wanted and more. Psalm 78:27 He caused it to rain flesh. They had dead birds like the sand of the sea. Psalm 78:28.
Then God got angry because they didn’t believe Him. He killed the fattest of them. Psalm 78:31.They wasted their lives in nothingness. Psalm 78:33
They add bird flesh until it came out their noses Numbers 11:20. He gave them what they wanted but sent leanness to their souls. Psalm 106:15.
Much more could be said but maybe we stop here and contemplate. Are we dissatisfied with what God has for us? Do we complain that He is not providing what we think is best? Do we accuse him in any way in our prayers? I have and I know that I have.
Do we really think that we know what is best for us? Are we willing to run the risk of having what we want but wasted lives, lean souls, and a lifestyle that will eventually make us sick?
I challenge you to seek Him in Bible study before you seek Him in prayer. I challenge you to ask Him for His will and live in obedience instead of expecting God to wait on your every beck and command.
