Psalm 32:8-9 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
Do you wish that God would guide you and direct your paths? Do you desire to know His will for your life? I think it is interesting that David knows that God wants to direct Him with eye. Just look to Jesus, wait and watch and He will tell you want to do.
But the comment is made. Don’t be like a horse or mule that is so hard headed that it must be controlled by a painful outside force. The bit and bridle can be quite painful in the mouth of the animal. But then the animal doesn’t understand. He might need to directed that way but you shouldn’t.
So He is ready to guide you. He is ready to direct your paths. He will do so with His eye. You will need to be looking at Him. You will need to concentrate. You need to see what He is telling you as He looks at you.
How do you get this direction? You get it from the Word of God. You do not need the bit and bridle. You do not want them. You simply need to begin spending real quality time with the Lord Jesus Christ every day. You need to be looking to Him for direction.
Don’t be like the hard headed horse that needs external pressure to get you to look to Jesus.
