2Chronicles 36:5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
I am afraid that we have each decided for ourselves what is right and what is wrong. We have set ourselves up to be the court, the deciders, about what should and should not be done. We have decided that we can determine what pleases God and what doesn’t!
The facts are that each culture and country has different opinions about right and wrong. The phrase “evil in the sight of the Lord his God” is found over and over in the Scriptures.
It is not a matter of what I feel like is right, or what is right for me, or to me that verse means but rather what is God’s opinion? How does God view this or that?
We have left or at best lost our mooring, our anchor. We no longer go to God to determine what is right or wrong. We are allowing culture to do that for us! We are allowing the media to make that decision, public opinion seems to move the church.
The church has fallen into the trap of what is politically correct rather than what is Biblically correct. We come to the Bible with our preconceived ideas. We read into the Bible what we want to see or we do not even take the time to study the Bible.
I want to challenge you to seek God’s will and God’s opinion. I want to challenge you to become a faithful student of His Word. Get the Bible out, sit down, read in an organized, disciplined fashion. Attend a church that teaches the Bible verse by verse and is just a voice for the Scriptures.
Let’s get God’s opinion on the matter.
