2Chronicles 29:11 My sons, do not now be negligent, for the LORD has chosen you to stand in his presence, to minister to him and to be his ministers and make offerings to him.
Hezekiah has determined to seek the Lord and make a covenant with Him. God’s people have suffered long enough because of their sin. It is time for them to seek God. Hezekiah speaks to the men of God and tells them not be negligent.
They were not to be negligent because God had chosen them to stand before Him, to minister to Him, to serve Him, to make the offerings, etc. This was important work. It wasn’t weekend work. It wasn’t part time work. It wasn’t to be taken lightly. They were serving the God of Heaven.
Hezekiah needed to see God do something. He was concerned that all be done in a way that would be pleasing to God.
The same thing is true today. We cannot be negligent. We cannot take lightly the fact that we are serving the great God of Heaven. Your worship, your singing, your offering, your worship attendance, and all that you do is super important. We must be 100% given to our service of God. This is important.
This devotional is not about giving you more knowledge or being a commentary. It is about you conversing with God. Ask yourself some questions!
Do you seek God through prayer and Bible reading on a daily basis?
Do you worship Him with all of your heart each day and at each worship service?
Do you take seriously your giving and church service?
Do you take seriously the position of leadership that God has given you in the family, the neighborhood, and the church?
Don’t be negligent!
