1Chronicles 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
What are you doing to leave a lasting ministry that will bring honor and glory to God long after your death? I am afraid many of us are not even all that concerned about doing something for God while we are alive but today we change that!
God told David that he will not be allowed to build the temple. He had the temple in his heart. It was his desire to build a great temple to the Lord God of Heaven. God told him that he could not build the temple but would allow his son to do so.
Then David with all of his heart begins to make preparations for the work that his son will do. What really impresses me is that though he would not get the credit for the work done on the temple he abundantly prepares for it. The temple was in his heart and not in Solomon’s heart. The temple will be called Solomon’s temple.
Then more importantly is that David is preparing to leave something that will live on after his death. He is dying before the work is done but he works on.
Now I ask you a question, what are you doing currently for the work of God? Has God put anything in your heart to do for Him? What are you really working at doing for His honor and glory?
Then I ask you what are you doing that will live on after you die? Are you really working at raising your children so that they will be faithful servants of our God? Are you involved in discipling others that will serve God after you are gone? Are you building something that will last like a church, a ministry, etc.?
Don’t get caught up living in the moment, taking care of number one and forget that life has far more meaning than that!
