1Kings 11:2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
This is one of those stories that should come as a great warning to all of us. Solomon is the wisest man in the Bible. He is so blessed by God that silver becomes like a rock in his kingdom. People come from all over the world to hear him talk. He reads, writes, studies, leads, governs better than anyone else in the world. God gives him literally everything he could want.
Then he decides that he wants women. Women that do not worship the God of Heaven. He ends up building temples to false gods and worshipping them at least to some degree. God is angry. God will not allow him to continue as king in the fullest capacity. He has betrayed the trust given him.
Now today it is unlikely that anyone of us would have “wrong women” like Solomon where we had so many different women but wrong women still trip up God’s men. I have watched young men like the wrong girl and get off track. I have watched a man’s wife greatly hinder his ministry or get him out of and away from all the blessings he could have had.
So when you are dating or whatever you call it be careful to seek God’s will and to marry the right kind of girl. Your wife will have more to do with your future than any other earthly decision.
Then I watch great “men of God” get tripped up because they go with wrong women. Any woman besides your wife is a wrong woman. Be careful to keep your eyes on your wife and only your wife.
No matter how good a man you are or how wise you are the wrong woman could trip you up!
Good article, thanks. Over the past few weeks I was thinking of Abagail who stopped David from taking out Nabal. Her act was virtuous and courageous. Men need wives with discernment to keep us from making wrong decisions.
