Ruth 3:11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
Ruth has gone to Boaz to get his help. What I love about the story is the testimony of a young lady who was not born in Israel and not raised among the people of God. However God has done a work in her heart. She is a different lady. When Boaz agrees to help her and redeem her he says everyone know that you are a virtuous woman, a good woman.
Each day as I read the Scripture I think of how that applies to me. The question that came to me today was how am I known? Do people see me as being an honest man, a man that keeps my word? Do people think of me as being a genuine Christian or do they think that I am a hypocrite?
What do I need to change in order to be known like I want to be known? The problem isn’t an exterior problem but rather a heart problem. What I do simply reflects what is really true of what is happening in my heart.
When I was a youth director, years ago, there was a saying that went like this; if you were accused of being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you? That might be a good question to use to sum up today’s devotional!
