Judges 2:22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
I have often asked myself why it is that God allows so much temptation if He knows that I love Him and want to serve Him. I accepted His gift of grace. I placed my faith and trust in Him. Why, why, do I have to face so much that causes me to want to doubt, disobey, and deny Him.
I think this passage of Scripture gives us a look into the heart of God and why He does just that. He told Israel that He would not remove the nations of lost people from their country. Judges 2:21. He could easily have done away with them. He could have allowed Israel to live in a utopia. But instead He leaves the enemy, pagan nations in place.
The purpose is to see if they will keep the way of the Lord. He is testing them. Will they do what their fathers did to keep God’s will?
Now I know this is Old Testament but I ask you if think that it is possible that we prove our love by looking more to the Lord Jesus than we do to temptations, trials, and testings. Could it be that even the chance to make so much money might be a test? Could it be that family, friends, fame, fortune, fun, etc could be a test to see if you love Him more than these?
You think about it and consider. What is God doing in your life? Would you pass the test if that were what is happening?
