Joshua 24:13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
The book of Joshua is coming to an end. God wants the nation of Israel to realize that all that has happened has been what He has done. They had a lot of land, cities, houses, fields, and crops but they didn’t build them or do the work. It was God Almighty working in, through and for them.
This verse stood out to me today because I am afraid that God has done great things in all of our lives and we want to take the credit for it. We think that we have done the great work. We believe that we have worked hard and that we have earned it.
There is the man that once lived in vile sin that God has converted but if he isn’t careful one day he begins to think about how he isn’t like other men. He wanted to change. He changed. He forgets that God did the work.
Then there is the person who never got into sin. He thinks that it was because of his goodness that he never stooped as low as others and forgets that it was God that saved him and transformed his life.
I would challenge you to remember that everything you have that is worth having came as a direct result of the grace and goodness of our God.
Let’s not forget how good He is and all that He has done. He saved us. He changed us. He blessed us with all spiritual and material blessings that we have.
What a God, What a Savior!
