Numbers 15:41 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.
I love the way God makes it clear that He loves His people. He brought them out of the land of slavery, Egypt. He rescued them by His great power. He helped them when they were helpless.
Now they have rebelled against Him time and time again yet He says that He is their God. He brought them out of Egypt to be their God and He will be their God.
He may not be pleased with their continual rebellion but He loves them and is pleased with them. He may discipline them and cause them to wander for 40 years but He still loves them. He will protect and provide for them. He will fulfill His promises to them.
What a God! He loves us when we are unlovely because He is lovely. He is good to us though we are not good.
Our salvation is His doing. He brought us out of sin when we were helpless. He gave us eternal life and we can rest secure in that. If we disobey Him then we will be disciplined but we will still be His.
Though He disciplines us it does not mean that He loves us any less. He loves us.
Notice we did not come to Him so that He would be our God. We did not leave Egypt to get Him to be our God. He did it all.
Do you have any idea what kind of God we serve and how good He is to us? Can you continue to live a selfish, sinful life? How can you not be grateful to a God like our God?
