Numbers 6:22-27 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
In the middle of law after law and rule after rule we find the attitude God wanted His men to have towards His people. God commanded His men to say several things to His people.
The desire of God’s man was to be that the Lord would bless them and keep them. Do special things in their lives with goodness and keep bad things from happening.
The man of God was to ask God to look on His people with love and kindness and to just give them what they did not deserve. He was asking God to pour out gifts on His people.
He was asking God to give His people peace. That would be peace in their hearts and peace around them.
What a wonderful prayer.
They were to put the Lord’s name on them and God Himself promised to bless them.
What a wonderful set of promises!
Now the question comes, what is your attitude towards your brother or sister in Christ? How much do you want to see God bless them? How jealous do you get when God does do something good to them? Do you pray for God to bless others or just yourself?
Do you get angry when you see God being so good to others and not so good to you?
