Leviticus 10:8-11 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.
Some thoughts from this passage:
Do not drink alcohol when you are doing the Lord’s work!
God wants you to be able to think clearly and so He even placed a death penalty threat over drinking in the tabernacle.
He wants His man to be able to show what it holy and what is unholy.
He wants His man to be able to teach His statutes to the people.
Obviously the use of alcohol would affect the thinking of God’s man and it might affect what the people think of what he has to say.
God wants His people to learn His word. It is time to teach what it says and not just preach opinions or pet peeves.
God wants His people to know what is right and wrong and that He is the one that determines right and wrong.
I hope you take seriously the need to honor God in your service to Him. I hope you do not play with spiritual things. I hope you work at knowing what God considers to be holy and unholy.
