Exodus 22:27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
God is good. God is gracious, compassionate, kind, full of tender mercies. Somehow we have allowed people to make us think that the God of the New Testament is different from the God of the Old Testament.
We have allowed people to make us think that God the Father is a hard God. He gives laws and requires payment. He is demanding, etc.
But here in the middle of Exodus and the giving of the law God Himself says, I am gracious. I remember learning that for the first time. I remember having to admit that I formed my own view of God that was not a Biblical view.
I felt like He was demanding, hard to please, ready to punish me, not really to happy to hear my prayers and answer me. I felt like I could never please Him and He would never really love me and accept me.
I loved the fact that Jesus seemed to be so different.
But here you have it. He is gracious. God the Father and God the Son are the same. There is no bad attitude and good attitude God. There is no bad God good God in the Bible.
He is gracious. He gave the law to make me see my need of Him and His provision of salvation. He is good.
Maybe today you have fallen for the lie. Maybe you want to accuse and judge God but you are doing so with faulty information. He is good.
I challenge to seek Him, to learn about Him so you can know Him as He is.
He is God full of compassion. He will hear your prayers. He will save.
