Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
What is your main goal in life? Would it be to get a certain amount of toys, education, money, pleasures, or what? What would give you that sense of fulfillment? Would it be a certain salary or being a parent or getting married? What makes life worth living?
For Paul the desire of his heart and life was that Jesus Christ would be magnified in him. He didn’t care if that meant by his death or his life. He lived trying to lift high the name of Jesus Christ.
He wanted to talk about Jesus wherever He went. He wanted Jesus to be glorified.
That seems to be a worthwhile pursuit. You will soon find out that money and pleasures can only satisfy temporarily. You will soon find out that no job has what it takes to fulfill life unless there is a greater underlying cause.
Literally nothing can satisfy you because you were never meant to live for yourself. Neither were you meant to live for other people. You were meant to live for the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you do not get hold of this fact you will wonder what life is about. You will head for a mid life crisis sooner or later. Your job, your talents, your personality, your material goods were all meant to be tools that you are to use to magnify the Lord Jesus Christ.
Are you searching for meaning? Are you wondering why it isn’t as fulfilling as you thought it would be? I have an answer for you.
Change your focus. You can work your job. You can make money. You can do whatever you are talented to do but now change the reason you do it.
Let your motivation be to magnify Jesus in your body whether by your death or life. Live for Him. Make Him the focus of your life. Live out your faith.
Don’t just talk about it. Make it your life!
