1John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
As children of God we are commanded not to love the world. That is talking about this world system, the one that is in rebellion to the things of God. The world is the satisfying of temporal or temporary desires.
These verses show us what the world is! It is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It is what I want, what looks good to me, what makes me feel good, what make me look good!
Everything we see! All that seems to make life something special here in this world will soon be gone. All that is of any value is really what God says has value.
It is so easy to get caught up in money, comfort, things, that we forget the things of God. This world has a way of swallowing us up. We all want to have time for God but it just doesn’t seem to work out.
We plan on giving Him time in the future. We just have to do these things today!
What is the driving motivation in your life? How much would you say of your thoughts, your efforts, etc. go into pleasing God and doing something that will last for eternity?
Has this world system consumed you? What is different about you, the way you think, the way you act, the way you spend your time and money from those that do not know God?
Honestly, do you love this world or the next?
