1Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Anyone that lives in the USA is wealthy by world standards. I know that we do not believe that but it is true. Whatever method you use puts the US in the third or fifth spot as the wealthiest nation in the world. Peru, where our family served for 18 years, is ranked 105 and 115 out of 208 countries.
In the US the per capita income is $37,610 compared to $90 in Ethiopia using the Atlas method. Regardless compared to the world we are rich. Source
Now look at the instructions that God gives us through the Apostle Paul.
We have established that we are rich.
We are to do good! That means using what God has given us to bless others. The idea is that we can enjoy what He has given us but we are also to use it to be a blessing.
We are to be rich in good works. I fear that many of us do not use our wealth to be “rich” in good works. I wonder how much time and effort we spend in finding ways to do good works. Missionaries and mission work is a good way to make a difference in many parts of the world.
We are to be ready to communicate or be givers. He has given us so much to be a blessing to others. Are you a giver?
So God has poured out His financial blessing over you and your family. Be careful to meditate on what God wants you to do with all of it.
Your money is a great responsibility! You have been given it all to be a blessing and to honor God. Just use these verses today to checkup on what you are doing!
