1Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
Here is the balance. It is God’s grace at work in me. It is all God. I am saved by His grace. I am kept by His grace. I work by His grace. His grace has made me what I am. All the good in me is by His grace.
But grace is not an excuse to lay back and wait on God to do everything allowing me to just float through life. It is not just a blame God game.
Paul said that grace was everything. He realize that every ability that he had came from God but then he adds the statement: His grace bestowed upon me was not in vain. He said God did give me all that I have but I used it to the best of my ability.
He says that he worked harder than everyone else. God does give us all that we have but we are responsible to take what He has given us and work with it. Even though we do work with it God will still be the one doing the work.
It is a hard balancing act. We can not, dare not take anything from God, His power, His sovereignty but we also dare not use His grace as our excuse for lazy, sinful living.
Like those that received differing amounts of five, two, and one we also have differing amounts. We didn’t choose what we were given to work with but we do choose how we will work what was placed in our hands. Luke 19:13-26
Are you investing and working the grace you have been given or are you burying it as you complain?
Let’s get to work. Let’s be good administrators of what has been given us!
