Luke 23:50-53 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
This Joseph was a good man. He did right. He loved God and He loved Jesus. He was so bold to express his love that he goes to see Pilate and asks him for the body of Jesus to bury him. That had to take real courage. He loved Jesus so much that he prepares His body for burial.
The part that bothers me about this story, this man Joseph is that he was a secret disciple. John 19:38
How much does he miss out on because he isn’t there for all that Jesus did. He comes out of hiding after the death of Jesus. That is very commendable.
I just wonder if he ever regretted what he might of missed since he wasn’t open about his love for the Lord Jesus while He was still alive.
Purely speculation on my part but I think that he may have said to himself and others. I cannot believe that I wasted so much of my life loving and believing in secret. I could have enjoy Him and His presence so much more if I would just have taken my stand earlier.
He missed out on so much. Just like you do when you hide your faith. I wonder how many reading this love Jesus. You want to please him but you let the opinion of your friends keep you from living your faith, talking about what Jesus means to you.
There is so much more that He wants to do in your life. Come clean. Step up and boldly proclaim that you love Jesus. You are going to sooner or later any way–that is if you are like Joseph so why waste your life dreaming about what could be when you can enjoy it now
