Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
What a promise! He will supply all of your needs! Do you realize the context of this great promise? It was written when Paul was talking about missionary support. He was saying I know that you have sacrificed to help me do the work that God has called me to do. He was thanking them.
But more than anything he was telling them that God was going to meet their needs. They had given to take care of the work of God. God would not abandon them as they gave such a sacrificial gift.
Yes, God will supply all our needs but that is not just a selfish, isolated promise for us but rather in context He will meet our needs as we get involved in giving to missions. As we take care of God’s man and the work of God then God will take care of us.
Do you need Him to meet your needs because of your credit card debt that you incurred because of your wants or because you are sacrificially giving to support His work?
I am afraid that we have used that verse way too often to get God to do something for us and taken it totally out of context.
Are you giving to support God’s international, world wide work? Are you sending a sacrifice to the men of God and the work of God? If not why don’t you get started today?
God will never abandon you. He will take care of you as you take care of His work.
