Philippians 4:15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.
The word communicate in this verse means to associate or partake with something or someone. It means to distribute or impart, to share with, or to have a share of.
It is taking about giving. Paul said no church participated, partnered, shared with, distributed to him when he left. The context is clear. He is talking about giving and receiving. The only church that had shown any interest was theirs.
So do you realize what we have here. Giving and receiving is the idea. We can participate with the man of God. We can associate ourselves with them and have a share of the ministry that God has given them. That is what we saw yesterday.
We get fruit to our account because we are helping them. I want to be part. I want to get involved all over the world.
I have never visited a part of the world without thinking that I would like to do something to get involved in the ministry there. I want to make a difference. I want to participate.
I do not see how you can go to the mission field and see what God is doing and see the need without your mission’s offering going way, way up! How can you see them, see the need, realize who you are and what you have without giving big time.
I wish that I could be a missionary to every country in the world. Every time I see one of our guys serving I am jealous. I want to be there.
There is a way that I can partner up with them. I can communicate in giving and receiving. I can have a share in their ministry.
I want to ask you to look at what you are giving. Are you giving like you want to? Are you giving like you should? Do you honor and recognize God with your giving? Do you give a proportionate gift from a grateful heart?
What do you do about giving to missions? If your son or daughter were the missionary would you be giving what you would want others to give? If you were the missionary on the other side of the globe are you giving like you would want others to help you?
I challenge you to begin giving! Get involved! Participate in supporting their ministries!
