Haggai 2:8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
Just a simple statement. He says it belongs to Him! The silver and the gold are His.
Could it be possible that many of us are going through trying times right now because we have forgotten this great statement. He is God. It all belongs to Him. We are simply administrators of His goods.
I am afraid that the majority of us think in terms of what we have lost. I have lost this much in the value of MY house. I have lost this much in MY wealth in the stock market. I have lost MY job.
The next thought might be: you do not know how this is affecting ME!
But then you are just innocently reading the Bible through and come across this verse. He says oh and by the way–it is all mine. You are not the owner I am.
David understood this truth. He said that the earth, all those in it and everything about it belonged to God Psalm 24:1
The beasts of the field and everything else belongs to Him. He doesn’t need us, we need Him. Psalm 50:10-12
Everything that we have comes from Him. Even what we put in the offering plate is His. We are simply returning to Him what He has given us. 1Chronicles 29:14-16
When will we realize that we are His servants. He owns it all including us! He is at work in our lives and He might just be reminding us that it is all His.
This could be a good time to be reminded that all that we are or have comes from Him. It could be a good time to get back into the mindset of managing what belongs to Him. God might be at work in our lives.
He might be crying out-I am God. Everything is mine. I want you to manage it for me and trust me with it. He might be reminding us that we are simply administrators and it all belongs to Him.
If it is His we can count on Him to take care of it. If it is ours then we are in trouble!
