Do we feel any responsibility?

June 11, 2009 By Austin Gardner 1 Comment

Ezekiel 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

They had a man on the wall that was to watch and see the enemy coming. If he did his job and warned the people he fulfilled his responsibility. If he did not warn the people then he was held responsible.

We know so much. We know that God does truly exist. We know that there will be a judgment. We know that Jesus Christ is the absolute only way that one can be saved. John 14:6. We have the answer yet so often we seem to feel no responsibility.

Paul seems to allude to this same idea when he says that he is pure from the blood of all men. He had taught them the whole counsel of God. If they refused to listen and obey he had at least done his duty. Acts 20:26

I challenge you to realize that some have not the knowledge of God and that should weigh on us. 1Corinthians 15:34.

Do you share your faith with your friends? Do you let them know that there is salvation only in the name of Jesus Christ? Do you pray for them to be saved? Do you beg God to do a work in their lives?

Do you participate in the missionary offering at church? Do you feel that world evangelism is important enough for you to give a good amount each week to send the gospel to the world?

Have you offered yourself to the Lord to be used of Him to get the gospel to another part of the world?

Do we feel any responsibility?

Convicting blog post. Reminds me of something I read yesterday from Robert Wilder, “I remember what one of the volunteers in India said, “If a man is ill and I run for a physician and reach the doctor too late I am not to blame. But when I started to run if I knew there was a horse ready to take me faster than my feet could carry me and I deliberately ignored the horse and went on foot and came too late then I am to blame!” And he said to us missionaries I fear that much of my work in India has been on foot instead of on horseback has been in the energy of the flesh instead of in the power of the Holy Spirit! “Ye shall receive power”, said Christ “when the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be my witnesses.” Whenever men have tried to separate these two things they have failed.”
