For His Name’s sake!

June 9, 2009 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Ezekiel 20:9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
Ezekiel 20:14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
Ezekiel 20:22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

His name is very important to Him! He does not want us pollute His name among the heathren. Three times in this chapter He uses that phrase.

I am afraid that we worry about our name and our reputation way more than we do His. I know that I do.

2Timothy 2:19 tells us that if we name the name of Christ we are to depart from iniquity.

2Thessalonians 1:12 He wants His name to be glorified in us!

Acts 15:26 Paul and Barnabas risked their lives for the name of Christ.

1Timothy 6:1 we are to live and work in such a way that His name will not be blasphemed or mocked.

2Samuel 12:14 God was angry with David because he gave the enemies great cause to mock Him as God.

I think there is a lesson here for us today. It is not our name but His that matters. He wants us to live holy lives through His power so that His name is glorified.

We should all take extra care that we do not harm His name or ministry by the way we live and talk.

If we truly want to be used of Him to accomplish big things then the goal will be that He be known and praised and not us!
