Ezekiel 8:12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
The old men and leaders in Israel had two wild thoughts. They thought that they could think in their heads whatever they wanted and God would not know it. They also thought that God had forsaken the earth. That means that they thought that God was not here any more and was not interested in what they were doing.
They could not have been farther from the truth. God tells Ezekiel to write down this verse. God showed Ezekiel what they had been doing. Not only in their words and actions but even in their imaginations.
They may have thought that the dark hid their actions. They may have thought as long as it is something I think and not actually put into practice that it is ok with God. But that wasn’t the case as you can see.
Now how do we apply this to us today? Might I remind you that He knows everything. He is always watching. He knows what we are thinking. He wants the thoughts and meditations of our hearts to be acceptable to Him.
Can I remind you that sin starts in the heart and in the thought process? Whatever we think about will eventually begin to come out and to show itself in us.
Please be careful what you put before your eyes. Be careful what thoughts you allow to dominate your mind. Never forget that pleasing God is not about outward actions but an inward state of being. It is about the heart.
Just remember. He sees and He knows. I want to please Him in every way that I can.
