Lamentations 3:22-27 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
Life is hard. We go through lots of difficult times, circumstances, and decisions. If it were not for the Lord we would be consumed. He is good. His compassions do not fail. Every day He gives us new mercies and a new opportunity.
Our hope is to be in the Lord and what He will do. We are not to hope in ourselves or the economy. We are not to hope in another person but in the Lord. God is good to them that wait upon Him. It is good to wait on Him and look for Him to do something in our lives.
God can and will work in our lives. We can count on that.
I find the last verse in this series to be interesting. Why does God put it right here? He is talking about how rough life is. He is saying that without God being good to us we would never get through it all. Then He says; it is good for us to bear the yoke in our youth. To work hard, to be under the burden, to go through it.
We are asking out and He is working in! He has a plan for our lives. He is showing His power. I wonder if this means that there is no escaping our situations but a showing of His power where we are?
I wonder if God wants us to face up to the fact that He is working in us and through us for His glory? He wants us to know that we can trust Him but it is good for us to go through it to trust Him even more. He has plans for our lives.
All of it, including the tough times, are of the Lord’s mercy. He is doing nothing that is not for our good. We can trust Him!
Get up and go about your work today. Do not try to escape. Do not complain just quietly wait on God to see what He is going to do. He is good but He is at work in my life!
