Jeremiah 14:13 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
Jeremiah 14:13-16 is a horrible story. The prophets are liars. The people believe them. God is not only angry with the lying prophets but with the people that listen to them and believe them.
Do you believe everything you hear from your pastor or the religious place that you worship? Did you know that there is much said from pulpits today that is not true? Did you know that it is essential that you examine everything said from your church’s pulpit to see if it is true or not?
Why are there so many different “Christian” churches? Why does the truth not seem to be the same everywhere?
Many Christians attend church and are passive listeners. Maybe so that they can say that they attended but it has no relevance to their lives or maybe they are just fulfilling a duty. There were some Jews in Berea that wouldn’t believe anything without studying it out for themselves. They were called more noble. Acts 17:11 I challenge you to take a Bible to church. Take a notebook and an ink pen. Take notes. Study it out for yourself. Learn how to study the Bible.
This is real and it is important. It has eternal consequences for you and your children. Sadly there are many churches that only say what you want to hear.
There are churches that only preach their pet peeves or pet subjects. There are churches that are more into pop psychology than what God says.
Don’t believe everything you hear. Get a Bible. Listen actively. Take notes. Examine the truths. Get involved in a discipleship relationship. You can understand the Bible. God can and will work in your life.
I long for Christians to hear me preach that will be looking it all up. Thinking about it. Questioning it and me. Too long preachers have play fast and loose with the truth.
