Jeremiah 1:4-9 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
Jeremiah like us is afraid. He is not sure that he is up to the job that is to be done. I love the passage. I have tried to bold the print so that you will notice that it is the Lord.
The Lord speaks and says:
I formed you
I knew you
I sanctified you
I ordained you
Even after hearing all of that Jeremiah was still afraid. He didn’t think he could do it. I feel that way so often. I think that too much is being asked of me. I feel overwhelmed. I feel like I can’t but here God makes it clear that it is all Him!
He reminds Jeremiah:
I shall send you
I will command you what to speak
I am with you
I will deliver you
I have put my Words in your mouth.
How does this sound. He is God. He has called us. He has empowered us. He will get glory to Himself. We can trust Him. We should step out by faith and do whatever He has for us to do.
I love this part though it is hard for me to live. He is the one. He is doing it. I can trust Him. I do not have to feel the pressure.
