Isaiah 17:7-8 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
God is speaking through His servant to Israel. They have been very indifferent to God. They have made gods with their own hands. They have in essence thought of themselves and what they can do. Now there is coming a day when men will look to their Maker and their eyes will respect the Holy One of Israel. They will turn from their idols that they made to worship false gods.
This passage was written to Israel but is very real for each of us. How many of us thing more of who we are and what we can do and have done than we should? How many of us have made other idols in our lives and have little time for our Maker, the Holy One? How many of us have more respect for what we have done than for what He has done and is doing?
I would far rather turn to Him and love and obey Him prior to the events that He will bring to pass to get our attention, wouldn’t you? Can you say that you love, respect, honor and seek your Maker each day? Can you say that you seek those things that are above? Do you live a life with God in mind every day and in every thing that you do?
Why do you not stop right now today and decide that you will seek first the God of Heaven and His kingdom? Why not repent of self and seek the Saviour? Today is the best day to begin to live like you were made to live. Today is the day to live up to who you are in Christ Jesus!
