We are His people!

April 15, 2009 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Psa 100:1-5 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

If you get this truth down it changes everything. It makes it easy to do the rest of the things that are mentioned in this psalm. He is God! That is first. He is God. We probably need to say that several times. There is no other. He is God. Not only is He God but I am not god! Nor anything like Him. He is God. That puts things into perspective.

He made us. We didn’t make ourselves. That is the second thing that really puts things into perspective. I am His creation. I am His workmanship Ephesians 2:10. He made me. He saved me from Hell.

We are His people. He redeemed us. He purchased us with His own blood. Acts 20:28, 1Peter 1:18-19, 1Corinthians 6:19-20. We are His people. We belong to Him. We are a purchased possession (peculiar people). 1Peter 2:9

Since all this is true we should “make a joyful noise,” worship Him. Psalm 100:1 That is we should be shouting and cheering Him and what He has done for us! We should be praising and worshipping Him.

We should serve Him with gladness. We ought to be serving-that is a word for working, doing His will. It is what a slave does. Not the slave’s will but the master’s will! We should do so gladly. We were servants or slaves of sin and a horrible master. We were destined to die and spend eternity in Hell. Our new master has rescued us. We are glad to serve Him. Psalm 100:2

We come before His presence with singing. We do not come in fear or dread. We do not hate our master. We do not begrudge Him His position or ownership of us! We are excited to serve Him and grateful for the opportunity.

We come before Him and into His presence with thanksgiving and with praise. We thank Him for buying us and owning us. We are happy to be His. We tell Him so. Psalm 100:4 He is a good master. He has done us well. He treats us with a dignity we never deserved. He can do with us as pleases Him. He is God. He is King. He is our Master. He is our Owner.

Everything He does is right. We will praise Him. We will love and honor Him. Oh what a privilege to be His and to be serving Him. There are things that I do not understand but He is right, good and true so I can be sure that He does everything right.

Thank you for saving me. Thank you for allowing me to be your servant.
