The worst into the best!

April 10, 2009 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Hosea 2:15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. God is dealing with His people who have been unfaithful. He is bringing them back to Him. In this He promises to turn the valley of Achor into a door of hope. He is going to cause Israel to sing as in the days of her youth just after she was saved!

You know that Achor is where the family of Achan was killed for their sin! You know that it was a horrible day of great mourning. The nation had to publicly put him to death along with all of his family. It was a day of shame, defeat, death, pain, horrors yet God is going to turn that into a door of hope.

He saves us. In doing that He takes the worst of our past, our lives and turns it into a door of hope. It becomes like our greatest day. I realization of sin and how undeserving we are becomes the door of hope. We realize that we have sinned. We turn to Him and get hope.

But not just hope, we get newness, forgiveness. Did you see what it said? He will make us sing and act like a young kid. He will take us back to the happiest days of our lives.

I never see anything any more precious than when a person gets saved and realizes that it is all gone. All of it is gone, they are a new creature in Christ. He doesn’t even remember our sin.

He has turned the worst of our past into the best. That sin made us realize our need and now we are saved!
