Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
Trouble is always around us! There seems to be enough reasons to be afraid to keep us shaking until we finally die. Money problems, family, health, emotional, are just a few we can name. The psalm speaks of everything going wrong. The earth is completely turned upside down. The mountains are in the middle of the sea. It seems that even nature is afraid but the psalmist has found an answer. That answer is God Himself!
The verse says that God is present. Right here, right now, God is waiting to help. Trouble comes but we are not alone. David had lost everything back at Ziglag. His men wanted to kill him. What does he do but encourage himself in the Lord. 1Samuel 30:6
So what do we do when we are in trouble. What do we do when everything is falling apart. I am afraid we quit praying, quit seeking God in Bible reading, get away from our Christian friends and hope the problems will just go away.
That is not very likely now is it! God is our refuge. That means He is the place we run to. He is where we hide. He has the strength to get us through the mess that we are in.
He said, come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden Matthew 11:28. He told us to wait on Him. Psalm 27:14. Get into His Word and find His promises. Lean on them. Claim them. Cry out to God in prayer reminding Him of His promises. Psalm 130:5
Even young people will get tired. They will not have the strength to deal with all the troubles and fears that come their way. However God has an answer-wait on Him. He is your answer. Isaiah 40:29-31
You can count on God being good to you. Lamentations 3:25-26. He has no desire to see you hurt. He wants to meet your needs. He understands that you are fearful. He has the answer. He is your refuge and your strength.
