Time’s up!

Psalm 39:4-5 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.

These are shocking verses. But verses that need to be read and contemplated now. They are often read at funerals but really no one is listening and it surely doesn’t help the dead! David is a wise man. He asks God to help him understand and know about his end.

Death is coming. It is a part of life! David wanted to think in terms of the limited life that he had. He wanted to consider that instead of being strong he was really weak. He realized that life is really short. He realized that human life lived like humans live is really just a great big waste.

I do not want to waste my life. I know that it is short and so I have to use it every day to to the best I can to accomplish something that will be of value. One of the most horrible things that we can have, in my opinion, is a a wasted life.

God has given us so much. It may be a short life but a life lived for Him and His causes can count.

I would like to challenge you today to realize that it will all be over soon. When it is over will you have accomplished what you want to accomplish? This is one of those wake up days! This is a day to get your priorities right!

If you make a lot of money but don’t use it for His honor and glory what will happen to it when your children inherit it? Will it be for His glory or their comfort?

We are nothing. The only way we can live a life that counts is to fine His will and get involved in it with all that is with in us.

Don’t waste your life!

  1. We are often focused on our “missions”, but we need focus on Jesus and the journey, the time and places between the missions, the everyday where God touches lives through us when we are unaware but God is very present.
