Happy correction!

Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

The fact that God deals with us and corrects us should bring us great joy!

God doesn’t correct or teach every one but only those that He loves. Proverbs 3:11-12, Revelation 3:19

It is easy in the middle of the spanking or discipline to get angry with God but He only corrects His own children. Hebrews 12:6-8

What is the purpose:

God is working in us to conform us to the imagine of His Son. If you are saved then you will be and are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son. He will work in your life in many ways, some sweet and easy and some that seem bitter and hard to bring you to conformity to the image of His Son. Romans 8:28-29

How does God correct us!

He speaks to us softly and tenderly in our heart and conscience showing us that what we are doing is right or wrong. He gently lets us know if we are pleasing Him.

He can also deal quite severely with us. The Corinthian church was warned that some were sick, others weak and some had even died due to sin or not pleasing God. 1Corinthians 11:29-30

Question, have you ever known that you were not pleasing God? Has He ever made it clear that you were not doing what you should be doing? Has He ever dealt with you harshly?

Maybe it was during the preaching, your Bible reading, the comments of a friend or enemy, an event that took place, something hard that happened but you knew that God was dealing with you.

Have you ever felt that He was forming your character and making you what He wanted you to be?

I have! Many times it is not pleasant. Many times it hurts but it always helps. I want to ask you to be sensitive to the working of the Holy Spirit in your life. If you are His He will make you know that. One of the ways He does that is to correct you and form your character.

So it should make you happy to know that God deals with His. He corrects His. The reason He deals with you is you are His. That makes it Happy Correction!
