We will not forsake the house of God!

Nehemiah 10:32-39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

Nehemiah and the people of God have been setting things in order in Jerusalem. I love how they decided to love God and give and serve just because they wanted to do so! In Nehemiah 10:32 they “made ordinances for themselves” to give extra for the house of God.

In Nehemiah 10:37 they are bringing in the firstfruits, the tithes of all their work, their firstborn, etc. all for the work of God and His worship.

They had made a decision that they would not forsake the house of God. I love that! They were so in love with God that they were not doing things out of duty, or necessity, or under pressure or duress. They did it because they loved God, His house, His worship, and His work.

I know this was the temple. I know it was Old Testament worship. I know that they were Jews. I have heard every excuse that you can make, but they loved God. They didn’t want to forsake the house of God. That is what strikes me.

I want to see God’s people today lift up and say the same thing. I want them to want to serve and give. I want them to take ownership of what God has given us to worship Him. I want them to watch over our little rented building from their hearts and take care of it.

I am always excited when I see certain of the ladies and gentlemen of our church come in and volunteer to clean. I watch them come in and no one knows but God and they are vacuuming, carrying out trash, painting, cleaning paint off of floors and all because they do not want to forsake the house of God.

I heard Ronald Tubillas tell the Spanish church in Trinity Hills, this is my church, it is your church, it is our church! I hope you feel that way. I hope you take care of it, its people, etc. like you would if it were your house, you were the pastor, etc.

I hope that you hunger to see the Word of God taken around the world as much or more than I do. We have so much to do and He is worthy.

Let us never forsake His house, His worship, His service!
