Ezra 8:22 For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them that seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
I love how Ezra had talked himself into a corner bragging on God and what God was doing and going to do in his life. He needed help right now but was ashamed to ask the king because of what he had said.
I am afraid that we too easily accept help from the world because we do not have a heart conviction like the one that Ezra had. Ezra said that God’s hand was on him. He said that God would do him good. Hebrews 11:6. Do we really believe that?
Abraham said something similar! Genesis 14:22-23. Abraham said that he never wanted a worldly king to say that he had made Abraham rich. Abraham wanted to see God work in his life. We must seek God believing and looking for Him to do great things in us.
Notice what Ezra said and believed about God. He said that God’s hand is on those that seek Him for good. Are you seeking Him?
Then Ezra said that God’s power and wrath were against those that walk away, turn their back on God. Do we really believe that? How are we making application of that in our lives?
How are seeking God? What testimony of seeking God do we have?
I want God to be the one that builds Vision. I want it to be His power and His hand. I want us to seek God with all of our lives, our money, our minds, our talents, our time, our everything! When God does something in our church I want it to be because we believed Him, trusted Him, and looked to Him!
