2Chronicles 36:16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.Zedekiah had opportunity after opportunity to know the truth, God’s will and to do it! Each time however he and his associates mocked the men of God and showed no respect for the Word of God. Finally God became so angry that He determined to punish them and there was no way to escape this punishment. This wasn’t a threat, it became reality. God’s people end up dead, their places destroyed, and many go into captivity. All of this happened because they knew what to do, were told clearly by God what to do but they ignored it. This causes me to ask the question, How many times are we ignoring the Word of God and His will concerning things in our lives? How often do we mock holiness? How often do we despise, ignore, make fun of, call prudish or old fashioned the Word of God or anything that would call us to live holy lives? Can I say that we are suffering the consequences of disobeying God? Can I say to you that we have crossed the line in many ways? As adults we have wanted our carnal freedom. We have wanted to do what we saw as right and not what the Bible says. We seemingly have gotten away with our running from right to do what we pleased but could you look at the adverse affect it is having on our children? They have seen our fake Christianity. They have watched us have the form of religion but deny the power thereof and now they want none of it. We complain to them. We tell them that they have to know and serve God yet they have no desire. They are actually adverse to the very thought. They put on their facebook account that they are atheists. They had a godly heritage but somewhere along the way they got fed up. God quit working in our lives and in the lives of our children and it seems now that there is no remedy. I beg you before it is to late to develop a real relationship with the Lord Jesus. I beg you to honor Him and His Word. I beg you to quit mocking holy things, the Word of God, and the men of God. Get this right before it angers God to the point that there is no remedy!
