2Kings 10:30-31 And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, … all that was in mine heart…. But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart:
What a story of Jehu! He does what God wants him to do. God is pleased with him and promises him great blessings. Jehu did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. That should be the goal of our lives. I want to please God. I want to do what He wants me to do. I do not want to do what I think is right but what He thinks is right!
He did what was in God’s heart! Can you imagine that. I want to do what is in God’s heart. I want to give myself to doing what pleases Him. He is the reason we are alive. He is the reason for what we do. Do you try to do what is in the Lord’s heart.
I would love to take this devotional to talk to you about the good that Jehu did. I am so glad that he did what was right in the Lord’s eyes and what was in God’s heart but the part of the passage that jumps off the page at me is “BUT JEHU” took no heed to do all that God wanted him to do.
I am afraid that is the story of many of our lives, partial obedience. We feel good because we do some of what God wants us to do. We feel good because we accomplish one thing on His agenda or maybe more but we are not sold out. We do not plan on going all the way to full obedience.
I want to do what is right in God’s eyes, what is in His heart, and with all my heart I do not want to have the “BUT” added to the end of my life.
I know that you are serving God. I know that you are doing right. I just hope you do not do enough right to feel good about yourself yet not fully what He wants. I want to please God all the way. I want to serve Him with my heart, my life, my time, my money, my children, my all.
Let’s go all the way!
